"Red Hot Chili Peppers, which is singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, will perform live for the first time in South Africa," Big Concerts said in a statement.

The Grammy Award-winning band will play in Johannesburg at the FNB Stadium on February 2, and at Cape Town Stadium on February 5.

Tickets, costing between R315 and R715, will go on sale for the Johannesburg concert on Wednesday.

Sales of tickets for the Cape Town concert open on Thursday at Computicket. These will cost between R215 and R665.

Local rap-rave group, Die Antwoord, will support the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their South African tour.
