Olympic Swimmer, Dad in Court for Speeding
A South African Olympic swimmer and his father would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court for speeding on Monday, Gauteng traffic police said.
The pair was arrested for speeding on the N1 to Pretoria on Sunday and released on bail.
Spokeswoman Busaphi Nxumalo said the 55-year-old father was caught shortly before 7am driving at 234km/h in a Porsche GT3.
"His 20-year-old son, who is an Olympic swimmer for South Africa, also driving the same make of Porsche, was caught behind him travelling at 188km/h."
Nxumalo said the two were arrested for reckless or negligent driving, with an alternative charge of exceeding the general speed limit of 120km/h.
