The Shakira Isabel Memparak Ripoll was born on February 2, 1977 in Colombia and is one of the biggest recording artists ever to emerge from Latin America. She first burst on to the music scene of Colombia in the early 1990s and since then her albums such as 'Whenever, Wherever', 'Laundry Service', 'Fijación Oral Vol. 1' and 'Oral Fixation vol. 2' have sold millions of copies around the world. Her track 'Hips Don't Lie' is also one of the the best-selling songs of the 21st century. In 1995 she founded the Pies Descalzos Foundation, a Colombian charity that provides special schools for poor children in Colombia.
